When you are relaxing at home on the couch, laying in bed at night or even entertaining a group of friends in your kitchen, the last thing that you want to deal with is unwanted pests in your home. This could include biting or stinging insects, creepy spiders, disease-ridden rodents and more. If you are concerned about pests in your home, there are a few upgrades that you can make that may decrease or eliminate their presence.
Install Spray-in Foam Installation
While you may need to call a pest control company such as Colonial Pest Control Inc. to eradicate any existing pests in your home, you may also be able to block their entry into your home. Some pests enter the home through cracks in bricks, siding and more, and they make a home inside your walls.
You may also see signs of an infestation on the interior of your home. Spray-in foam insulation is typically substantially better at preventing pests from entering the home through this route in comparison to fiberglass insulation.
Add Screens to Your Doors
Another upgrade to consider if you want to eliminate pests is to add screens to your doors. Right now, you may periodically leave doors open to allow fresh or temperate air to enter the home or even to add more sunlight to the space. Rather than leave the space entirely open, you can use screen doors to prevent pests from entering through these portals.
Invest in a Mosquito Spray System
Mosquitoes can quickly bite you, leaving red, itchy bumps and spreading disease. While they are most commonly associated with the outdoors, they can enter the home any time when the door or window is open for even a brief moment. You can install a mosquito spray system on your patio to keep these insects away. This may deter many from entering your home.
Choose Hard Floor Surfaces
Fleas are another common pest found in homes. If you have carpeting, your flooring choice may make it easier for an infestation to develop and harder to treat the infestation. Fleas may live in the fibers of your carpet or even lay eggs in the fibers. They can hop on and off of your pets to feed as desired. If you are making plans to upgrade your floors, consider replacing your carpet with a hard floor surface, such as wood or tile.
As you can see, many of your upgrading decisions can impact how easily pests enter your home or how comfortable they feel in your space. Consider incorporating at least a few of these ideas into your upgrading plans to decrease the presence of pests in your home.
